A fresh look
at familiar places.
An independent guide for travelers discovering the Rio Grande Valley and residents who want to explore more of home.

Explore with a little more context.
A place becomes more interesting when you know something about it. RGV Guide brings local history, visitor ideas, and practical planning together, from inland towns to the Laguna Madre and South Padre Island.
Our city collection covers 18 destinations across Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy counties. It is a starting point for exploring the region, not a claim to include every Valley community or business.
How we put the guide together.
Descriptions and suggested outings are written for RGV Guide. Historical summaries refer to the Texas State Historical Association’s Handbook of Texas. Attraction links lead to official operators, parks, museums, visitor organizations, and other identified sources wherever possible.
Photographs are credited to their creators. Archive photographs and nearby locations are identified in captions; they are not presented as current photographs of a different place. This is a researched guide, not a claim that we have personally inspected every destination.
Advertising you can recognize.
Paid placements will be labeled Advertisement or Sponsored. An advertising inquiry does not buy an editorial ranking, and we do not invent reviews or audience figures. Our aim is to make local businesses discoverable while keeping planning information useful.
Help us keep it useful.
Opening times, admission, roads, and activities can change. Check the destination directly before traveling. If a detail needs attention, send a correction with the page and the source we should review.
